"TAPASYA" - pray for a soul
Nivedita Krishnakumar
Nivedita Krishnakumar is a freshman at Georgia State University pursuing a degree in education. Nivedita was one of the first students to join The Narasimha Academy of arts in 1999 when Guru Preeti Vinayak Shah first opened a branch of her school in Atlanta. From then onwards Nivedita studied Bharathanatyam for more than eight years and performed in the Annual recitals and programs given for local organizations.
Nivedita has also trained in Carnatic music. She is involved in extracurricular activities like Community Outreach and CARE International. In Community Outreach. She goes to an elementary school and helps with their extracurricular activities. She was the President of the club CARE at her high school. She has done a lot to help women in developing countries and gone through numerous fundraisers to help stop the genocide in Darfur. Last year, the club invited a Darfur refugee who lives in Atlanta to come speak to the students in Walton about her experiences in Darfur.
A few words from Nivedita: "I have really enjoyed coming to rehearsals. The rehearsals have been fun, despite the long hours of dancing. I would like to support this cause because I am a firm believer in helping out all the poor children who need an education."
